Stay Dry & Warm

When applied, the exterior wall coating creates a super hydrophobic surface commonly referred to as the ‘lotus effect‘ due to it’s similarity to the water repelling properties of the lotus leaf. When it rains, coated mineral surfaces will repel the water, causing it to form beads (because the water is more attracted to itself than the surface) and run off without being absorbed. Independent tests have shown that it reduces water absorption by 93.4% and therefore meets the British standard for water vapour resistance BS EN ISO 7783:2011.

UKAS accredited tests demonstrated that by reducing water absorption of the walls, the wall coating lead to thermal performance benefits & has been proven to meet EAD 040083-00-0404.

In addition, testing in a hygrothermal chamber revealed that a wall treated with the wall coating and subjected to repeated heat-rain conditions in accordance with EAD 090062-00-0404, resulted in reduced heat loss when compared with the uncoated (control) wall. The uncoated wall showed on average an increase of 6⁰C of heat loss in comparison to the walls coated with ProPERLA.

The wall coating also improves thermal efficiency and contributes to lower energy consumption and lower energy bills, by keeping walls dry. Damp walls act as ‘thermal bridges’ – enabling heat to transfer from the inside out twice as quickly as it would if the walls remained dry.

Breathable

Crucially, ProPERLA Facade Coating is a highly breathable wall coating. Water vapour permeability testing was conducted in accordance with BS EN ISO 7783:2011 and it demonstrated that the coating had little effect on the water vapour diffusion of the substrate.

Application of ProPERLA Exterior Facade Coating protects the walls and cavities by keeping them dry whilst allowing air and moisture to escape. It maintains the important capability of the building envelope to breathe. Unlike some stone and brick sealing products, it does not block the pores of the masonry by coating them with a thin film.

Prevent & Protect

Our exterior wall coating not only improves the appearance of the building, it helps to maintain and protect it long term.

It mimics the lotus leaf by creating a self-cleaning surface. Dirt particles are unable to obtain a hold on ProPERLA treated surfaces and will simply flow off with rainfall
The growth of moss, algae and lichens is deterred due to the dry surface created by the wall coating
Helps to prevent discolouration
Similarly, it slows the ageing or breakdown of the surface of the building by helping to protect it from the damaging effects of the weather including wind driven rain, frost, high air humidity and sea salt penetrated air
Performance is unaffected by UV rays
The coating is colour stable, ensuring a long-term, attractive finish

Colours

The exterior wall coating is available in a range of pastel shades – for example, Water Lily, Devon Stone, Pebble, Polar White and Cotswold Cream.

The images above are indicative of the range of colours available and should be used as a guide only. Due to the variability of computer screens we cannot guarantee an exact colour match between the actual colour and the colour as displayed on a screen or when printed. For a more accurate representation each exterior wall coating colour we strongly recommend requesting a colour chart.
